Recently, the online selling community on Shopee has been disturbed by buyers taking advantage of the return and refund policy to exploit sellers. From humorous situations like buying items to try and then returning them, to deliberately damaging products, all of these have caused significant losses for sellers, especially small shops.

For instance, there was a case involving a shop selling swimwear on Shopee. The shop owner reluctantly shared the story of a customer who bought a bikini, wore it to the beach, and then returned it claiming "dissatisfaction." Notably, the returned swimwear was in unsanitary condition, unattractive, and unsellable due to having been used.

Understanding these challenges, Shopee officially launched the "Channel to Report Fraudulent Buyers" on July 24, 2024.

Channel to Report Fraudulent Buyers - A Shield to Protect Sellers?

This new channel aims to gather feedback from sellers about cases where buyers show signs of fraud during the return/refund process.

Sellers will receive a Report Form from Shopee via email or the Chat with Shopee section when there is a notification of the return/refund complaint resolution.

Shopee will use the information from the Report Form to verify and take appropriate action, ensuring a fair and civilized trading environment for both buyers and sellers.

How to Report Fraudulent Buyers?

To report a buyer showing signs of fraud, you can follow these steps:

  1. Store evidence: Make sure you have enough proof of the buyer's fraudulent behavior, such as images and videos of the product being packaged before shipping, images and videos of the product when it is returned, etc.
  2. Access the Form: Check your email or the Chat with Shopee section to get the Report Form.
  3. Fill in all the information: Provide accurate and complete information as requested on the Form.
  4. Submit the report: Send the Form to Shopee and wait for a response.
